Community Grant Allocation Process and Awards
The Wards 2 & 3 NPA received 10 applications for funding (4 from Ward 2 and 6 from Ward 3). Applicants were invited to present their projects at the Nov. 10 NPA meeting and paper copies of their applications were available for review at the meeting and the full applications were also posted online. Community voted via paper ballot at the NPA meeting and through an online survey, which closed Nov. 18.
There were 97 votes (41 from Ward 2 residents and 56 from Ward 2 residents). Voters were asked to consider each application and make a recommendation to "fully fund," "partially fund," or "do not fund."
Based on the community recommendations, the NPA Steering Committee decided to fully fund applications that received more than 50% of votes to "fully fund" and then allocated partial funding to most of the rest of the projects.
Two projects were removed from the grant pool. The Free Clothes Bin at Battery Street Jeans was removed and may be reconsidered in the spring. The NPA Explainer Comic/Zine will be fully funded as a city-wide NPA outreach project.
The NPA Steering Committee suggested to the three community arts/music/dance festival applicants that they combine forces to pool their individual grant awards for a single event.
Here is the list of funded projects:
NPA Explainer Comic/Zine: City-wide NPA Outreach project funded in partnership with other NPAs.
Congratulations to all the grantees!
