Mayoral:
- For years I have been attending working groups that promise to improve the biking infrastructure. Yet we still have don't have more than a few short sections of protected bike lanes and just get stripes on the street often push us into cars when we get to the new bump-outs. The greenway pushes bikers on a great meander that people don't follow. It's a show of improving biking without actually improving biking. As a year-round bike commuter and healthcare provider, I am continually dismayed at the public health issue of unsafe biking that is present in our community. What do you think we can do to improve safe biking so that more people of all ages can safely bike commute and leave their cars at home. -Janet Carscadden Ward 2
- Please talk about your specific plans to address the ongoing Covid crisis in Burlington, and the social and economic fallout that has resulted.
- How do you plan to address the issues facing Burlington High School?
- What are your plans to pay for all the Water Quality obligations that the city will be faced with over the next 20 years? - Julia DiPietro, Ward 3
- QUESTION FOR MAX: Our city government is made up of 16+ departments and 600+ employees, and I think that while the Mayors role can be seen as political and in some ways symbolic, leading such a large organization successfully seems critical. What is your professional experience with regard to staff and budgetary management? - Kevin R., Ward 3
- In the past three months of my search for new rental housing in Burlington, every single rental advertisement or lease I've considered has contained violations of Burlington's Code of Ordinances. How will the candidates work to make the rental housing market in Burlington more fair for renters? -Brian S
- From Rachel Siegel to All Panelists: 07:55 PM
It's clear that the downtown development has been a disaster for the city. Can the candidates talk about what they'll do to address the hole that is in the middle of the city and in our district? And looking back, how could we have avoided this mess?
- From Bright Street Co-op to All Panelists: 07:55 PM
Hi, I would be interested to hear each candidate's thoughts on Councilor Freeman's Just Economy proposal. Thank you -KC, Ward 2
- From Isaac Bissell to All Panelists: 07:56 PM
and a related question, if the airport expansion is necessary in order to promote economic growth, do you see a conflict between this economic growth mindset and the climate crisis?
- From Solveig to All Panelists: 07:58 PM
What is your position on implementing district heating from waste heat generated by the McNeil Power plant to serve any development downtown in the old Burlington Mall space, or the UVM Medical Center complex? District heating was committed to as part of the old CityPlace development design.
- From Keegan Carter to All Panelists: 07:58 PM
why should the city have the authority to force people to change heating systems vs leveraging existing incentives to be more of a carrot vs using the stick?
- From Christopher-Aaron Felker to All Panelists: 07:59 PM
Burlington has 130 miles of sidewalks- many of which are not ADA compliant. Yes, we correct 3 miles a year, but truly that is not adequate. we are failing in our commitment to our some of our city’s most vulnerable. our broken infrastructure obstructs residents ability to get down town and shop local, to get out for exercise... we are failing these people. I would like to know how each candidate would act to accelerate these much needed updates?
- From TJ Jemison to Everyone: 08:00 PM
TJ Ward 4- Question for Max Tracy: This summer there were highly attended council meetings focused mostly on the BTV police. At one of these meetings you said that you were going to privilege the voices of people of color to go first in the discussion. As a white person I was happy that you made that decision. However, when there were many voices of residents from outside of Burlington, as a tax payer in Burlington I was not happy. If you are elected Mayor how can we be assured that you are looking out for the people of Burlington?
- From Eli goldman to All Panelists: 08:02 PM
Miro, How do you account for your participation in the shameful Del pozo scandal, your dishonesty about it, and the intentional cover up of this problematic behavior? Those choices showed a corrupt prioritization of police and their statistically biased use of force, over the safetly and comfort of marginalized people, espcially bipoc. Why should all the people of this city trust you?
- From Terrence Fradet to Everyone: 08:02 PM
+1 to the question about biking. When the question about *safety* was asked earlier I assumed it was a question about unsafe biking infrastructure. We are far behind other cities on this. Will you (or not) commit to building cycle tracks which has a physical barrier keeping cyclists truly safe from vehicle traffic?
- From StephenAMarshall to All Panelists: 08:04 PM
We learned today that homelessness is likely to increase dramatically as the covid response restrictions on evictions are relaxed. In the current environment, people will be driven out of housing and sometimes people resort to living in a tent or a car. Do you agree with the idea that the city should write a plan to promote safe parking and safe camping? - From Eli goldman to All Panelists: 08:06 PM

Those choices showed a corrupt prioritization of police and their statistically biased use of force, over the safetly and comfort of marginalized people, espcially bipoc. Why should all the people of this city trust you? Additionally, other cantidates, how would you deal with a similar situation with a currupt police chief?
- From Charles Messing to Everyone: 08:06 PM
What would the Mayor do to speed up the police oversight process? Could it be transparent also?
- From Keegan Carter to All Panelists: 08:10 PM
